Q: What happens if there’s bad weather? Is there a rain date?
All the more challenging!! The Beach Century Bike Tour will take place, rain or shine. Please check the weather frequently and ensure you bring adequate clothing to prepare for the day.

Q: Where and When do I check in?

  • The ride begins at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center. The physical address is the parking area at the intersection of George Mason Drive and North Landing Road. There is ample parking for participants, family and friends!
  • Our dedicated team of volunteers will be available to check in riders starting at 6:30AM. Our 3rd Annual Ride will have 100-mile riders depart at 7:30AM, 50-mile riders depart at 8:00AM, and 33-mile riders depart at 8:30AM.
  • When you arrive, follow the signs to Check-in to confirm registration, pick up your Cue Sheet and get your SWAG Bag. Refreshments and SAG support is also available.
  • After Check-in, riders can grab a bite to eat and prepare for the start of our Beach Century Bike Tour!

Q: Riders under the age of 18?
Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Q: If I can’t make the ride, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, no refunds will be given if you register and cannot make the ride. The Beach Century Bike Tour is a fundraising event to benefit the We Promise Foundation, so your registration still benefits a great cause. You may wish to consider selling your spot to another rider and if you are successful, please ask your replacement rider to advise us of the change at check-in.

Q: What should I bring on the ride?
Plenty of water or sport drinks, medications, energy food, tools for minor repairs, money for emergencies, rain gear, your ID and a card with emergency contact information. If you have a cell phone, bring it, and all riders must wear a helmet (mandatory). iPods and other electronic devices are discouraged. Enjoy the scenery and nature—but if you must plug-in, please be aware of your surroundings!

Q: What is the course like?
You gotta love the East Coastline—nice and flat!! The route is an enjoyable one, winding through beautiful vistas of rural coastline, marshes, and farmland in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, Virginia. The Pungo Ferry Bridge is the only significant challenge, but it’s worth the effort in bragging rights!

Q: Will there be signs on the course?
Your safety and security is our number one priority, so we will mark all turns and rest areas to be easily spotted. Cue Sheets will also be provided so you can confirm your course as you ride.

Keep on the lookout for our street-painted Beach Century Bike Tour road markers to make sure you are right on track!

If you believe you are lost… STOP. If you have your cell phone, call in to the number provided on your Emergency Contact Card provided with your Rider Packet. If you don’t have a phone, look for a service area or convenient place to stop with a phone and call us.

Q: Will there be on-course support?
Rest Stops will be scattered throughout the route at approximately 10-15 miles apart. In between stops we will have SAG Support throughout the course to help. If you need help and are in between stops call the SAG Support number on your Cue Sheet.

Q: Will there be food?
Absolutely! Food will be served at the Start/Finish and at all rest stops.
